Last August 3 Google announced, in the company’s Engineering Center in Latin America (Belo Horizonte), the 24 winning academic projects of the Google Search Scholarships Program for Latin America. Most of the winners are from Brazil, but research projects from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru were also awarded. UFPel is in the 2015 national ranking of intellectual property, as published in June by INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property). The university appears in 23rd place among the largest invention patent applicants in Brazil, ahead of institutions such as UFRJ, Samsung, Braskem, among others. It also appears in 21st place in the ranking of computer program records, ahead of institutions such as UFRGS, Bematech and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation itself, which appears in 48th place.
In order to strengthen cooperation bonds, UFPel and Universidad Nacional de Villa Maria (UNVM), from Argentina, signed an agreement of academic cooperation that will be effective until July 4th, 2020. The fiction film Sesmaria, directed by Gabriela Lamas from the undergraduate program in Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (UFPel), was selected for the national short film category of the 44th Gramado Film Festival. UFPel was one of the organizations invited to join the Mobilization Seminar organized by the Regional Center for the Development of Sustainable Goals (ODS). The meeting took place last June 7.
