Former UFPel’s President Launches Book About the History of the Institution
Former UFPel president Antonio Cesar Gonçalves Borges is launching, next June, 6 the first volume of the book “Universidade Transformada“. In this work, Borges presents testimonies and reflections on events and achievements happening at UFPel especially between 1993-1997 and 2005-2012, when he ran the institution.

Argentine Academic Student Participates in a Mission at UFPel
Geography student Leonardo Schuler, from the National University of Patagonia, San Juan Bosco (UNPSJB), Argentina, came to UFPel last May 2016 for a mission in the Urban Planning Laboratory (LabUrb) at our School of Architecture and Urbanism (FAUrb). Last May 11 UFPel’s president Mauro Del Pino was officially invited by Carlos Umberto Delevati, a representative of Pelotas’ Shopkeepers Chamber and Jussara Dutra, coordinator of Fenadoce Food Festival, to participate of the National Sweet Fair that happens annually in our city. Series of lectures begins celebrations of Leopoldo Gotuzzo Art Museum’s 30th anniversary
This year, MALG (Leopoldo Gotuzzo Art Museum) completes 30 years of activities. To start the celebrations, the series of lectures “MALG 30 anos” will take place in April and May with support of UFPel, the Center for Arts and the municipal government. According to MALG director, Juliana Angeli, participants will be given educational material containing seven slides of the museum collections, as well as a themed deck of cards and an activity book. Museum of the Trivial Things hosts the exhibition “Everyone Can Be Frida”

Capes Approves Ph.D. Program in Water Resources
Last April 25th Capes approved the Ph.D. Program in Water Resources of UFPel with an initial accreditation grade 4. There will be an annual selection for six students, but the date for the first admission process hasn’t been defined yet. The program has an academic master’s degree operating since 2013 with area of concentration in Water Systems. UFPel professor collaborates on international book about Linguistics
Giovana Ferreira Gonçalves, a professor from the Graduate Program in Languages and Literature, in partnership with Professor Maria João Freitas from the University of Lisbon, has contributed to the chapter “Acquisition of Phonology” for the book “The Handbook of Portuguese Linguistics”, published by Wiley-Blackwell press. The 600-page-book, written by renowned linguists from Brazil and Portugal, discusses phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic, and lexical aspects from the Brazilian and European Portuguese language.
