Graduate Students in Dentistry Defend Doctoral Dissertations in the Netherlands
Last July 11-12, doctoral students Jovito Skupien, Françoise Van de Sande Milk and Anelise Montagnethe defended their doctoral work in the city of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Such academic accomplishment resulted from the partnership between UFPel Graduate Program in Dentistry (PPGO) and the Dentistry Department of Radboud University Medical Center, the Netherlands. UFPel Professor is Published in “The Lancet” Journal for Study About Physical Activity
A study covering more than one million people reveals that doing at least one hour of physical activity a day, such as walking at a fast pace or cycling, can eliminate the increased risk of death associated with eight hours a day spending sitting. UFPel’s Agronomy School Professor Lectures in an International Event in China
Professor Antonio de Oliveira Costa, from the Center for Genomics and Plant Breeding at UFPel’s Agrononomy School, was one of three speakers at the opening of the 7th International Crop Science Congress (http://www.7icsc.com.cn/speakers.html) held in Beijing, China last August 14-19. The professor talked about the genomics of cereals, reporting work done by students from the Agronomy and Biotechnology Programs and members of his research and international collaborations group.

UFPel is Awarded Google Research Grant
Last August 3 Google announced, in the company’s Engineering Center in Latin America (Belo Horizonte), the 24 winning academic projects of the Google Search Scholarships Program for Latin America. Most of the winners are from Brazil, but research projects from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru were also awarded.
