Visually impaired student reports her academic experience
Last June (2) Biology student Eduarda Emerick from PUC, Rio de Janeiro, delivered a talk at UFPel entitled “How to see without seeing“, approaching her difficulties and experiences as a visually impaired student attending higher education. “The theme of inclusion, although supported by specific legislation, still challenges institutions not only in relation to infrastructure and accessibility, but also, and mainly, in relation to teaching, as we haven’t developed yet enough resources, methodologies and adapted materials to enable these students full access to their learning and belonging rights”, says UFPel professor Leila Macias, organizer of the event.
